Description

Pixelsmith is a narrative-driven, isometric bike-em-up where you play as a low-res outcast in a low-poly town, searching for ways to earn some beer money.

History

After making several tutorials on a shader technique for realtime pixel art generation, long-time jammer Matthew Redmond decided to make his first commercial game based around the concept of combining pixel art with high quality 3D graphics. Thematically, Pixelsmith draws upon many aspects of his life and the lives of those he cares about, exploring what it means to be misunderstood, isolated and alone and the few brief moments of happiness that can still be found there.

Features

  • Small, handcrafted open world.
  • Fun and arcadey bike controls.
  • Eavesdropping mechanics to gather clues.
  • A dark cute tone, with themes of isolation, exclusion and coming of age.
